Grade 5 scholarship exam paper 2024 leaked by Principal & Teachers in Anuradhapura

Officers from the Exams Department have detained six teachers, one of whom is the principal of a school in Anuradhapura, for allegedly leaking the first question paper of the Grade Five scholarship exam. The teachers were accused of using a mobile phone to exchange images of the exam paper.

Investigations revealed that the images of the first question were shared 10 minutes before the exam commenced. Following this discovery, the assistant supervisor, the six teachers, and their mobile phones were taken into custody for their involvement in the unauthorized sharing of the exam paper.All those involved are employed at government schools in Nochchiyagama and Anuradhapura. Further inquiries uncovered that the leaked question paper had been distributed to multiple locations, including Colombo, Nochchiyagama, and Anuradhapura. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the scope of the leak.

Ceylon Teachers’ Association Confirms Grade 5 Scholarship Exam Leak

Priyantha Fernando, president of the Ceylon Teachers’ Association, confirmed that a mobile phone was used to illegally copy the Grade 5 scholarship exam question paper.

“This incident has shattered my confidence in the exam system,” Fernando said, emphasizing that authorities must strictly enforce the law. He called for severe penalties against those responsible for leaking the question paper.

Despite the breach, the 2024 Grade 5 Scholarship Exam was conducted across 2,849 testing locations nationwide last Sunday, September 15. Authorities are now under pressure to address the leak and ensure the integrity of future exams.
